Description
In December 2022, a Brussels court ruled in favour of Uber in a case regarding a driver’s employment status. The court determined that the driver had "a working relationship of independent nature" with Uber, as the platform had “no hierarchical control” over the driver.
This decision overturned a previous ruling by Belgium's administrative committee from October 2020, which had argued the driver's conditions were incompatible with self-employment and should be reclassified as an employee.
Uber welcomed the ruling, stating it was important for drivers who want to maintain their independence.
