Description

The Riders Collective started as part of the Digital Danube Network (DiDaNet) project, financed by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Labour. The initiative aims to improve working conditions in the platform economy, especially in the area of food delivery services.

It provides a platform for contact and exchange among workers and serves as their collective voice. Furthermore, it strives to raise awareness of the situation of couriers and provides workers with information on their rights and funding opportunities for education and trainings. In this context, it organises events and panels on the topics of workers’ rights, cooperatives and fair work in the digitalised economy. Among others, the collective cooperates with the Austrian Chamber of Labour and the trade union Vida.

In 2021, the Riders Collective endorses a survey on riders’ working conditions, which is implemented by the European Centre for Social Welfare Policy and Research. The collective promotes it via its website.
