A new trade union branch called PAM couriers Finland has officially been formed and approved in April of 2023. The branch is part of Finnish trade union Service Union United (PAM).
The background of the formation of this new branch is that Wolt couriers in Finland became active due to experiencing a significant drop in pay after the platform had changed its payment model. Previous strikes and discussions with Wolt did not lead to any changes. While PAM had previously sued Wolt in 2022 on behalf of a courier, it is new that Wolt workers are officially accepted as trade union members under this new branch.
PAM couriers Finland is now in negotiations with Wolt over the employment conditions of its couriers.
The following recent changes to this initiative have been recorded.
4/12/2023: PAM and Wolt started negotiations on the rules of work for couriers
20/06/2024: Progress in negotiations between PAM and Wolt during Spring – talks to continue in August
25/10/2024: negotiations stalled - Since December 2023, PAM has been negotiating with tech company Wolt to improve working conditions for food couriers, focusing mainly on fair compensation. While discussions have covered various issues, PAM and Wolt remain divided on a compensation model that would enable couriers to earn a sustainable income.
