Description

The platform Hilfr has signed a new collective agreement with the trade union 3F on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and algorithmic management.

Concretely, the new collective agreement details that Hilfr is allowed to make use of AI in decision-making as well as for the creation of estimates or assessments. This includes the possibility for Hilfr to make use of AI to end the working relationship with a platform worker. However, the agreement regulates that the platform must disclose how exactly it came to the decision, including an explanation of the assessment, the facts, and weighting. As a result, the decision can be legally verified.

As of now, Hilfr does not make use of artificial intelligence, but is considering the implementation of AI technologies in the future. The collective agreement can be renegotiated by Hilfr and 3F until March 2025.

Currently Hilfr has 38 employees. This is the second collective bargaining agreeement signed between 3F and and Hilfr. The first collective bargaining agreement signed in 2018 is available here.
