Description
In the Netherlands, the trade union Werkvereniging represents and mobilises workers regardless of their employment status. It advocates for a labour market and social security system that includes and benefits flexible workers, self-employed, workers on temporary employment contracts and workers in permanent employment. In this sense, it strives towards a labour market tailored to the modern characteristics of employment relations. As an independent interest group, it pursues its goal through lobbying and discussions with policy makers; publishing a magazine; collecting workers opinions and experiences; and connecting initiatives, companies and institutions with similar interests through the platform Vernieuwen (‘Renew’).
Membership costs 30€ per year and allows the members to attend meetings and lectures, get access to the network of all participants, contribute to the knowledge base (among others by contributing to surveys) and rate insurance options for platform workers (‘modern workers’).
