Description

On 25 May 2015, the Court of Milan approved an interim injunction against Uber's 'UberPop' service, which matches demand for car rides with providers owning private cars. This was in favour of various Taxi Drivers Associations who had brought the case together. The Court ruled that the UberPop service was a direct competitor for taxi drivers and cannot be considered car, or ride sharing, but rather shares the same features as public transport services like taxis. According to the court, UberPop's use of surge pricing violated competition law.
