Description

Naofood is a platform cooperative carrying out home meal deliveries in Nantes, France. It aims to empower its delivery workers and create a local network of restaurants, couriers, producers etc. to promote ethical and responsible consumption. The team of couriers consists of part-time as well as full-time workers who can avail of flexible working hours. The organisation is managed in a horizontal way giving the members/couriers the opportunity to take part in decision-making processes. The workers’ remuneration is thus discussed and adjusted regularly to allow the couriers to make a living from their profession. The first permanent contracts were signed in 2021. For 2022, the goal is to transform 50% of the couriers into employees.

The selection of partner restaurants gives priority to local brands, which operate in an ecologically and socially sustainable way. The service fees asked from restaurants are much lower than those charged by large platforms. To support restaurants, during the Covid-19 pandemic, the cooperative reduced the commission further to 2€ per order.

It is supported by the federation CoopCycle.
