Description
In 2014, drivers affiliated with GoOpti in Slovenia, a platform matching demand and supply for transport (mainly shuttle transfers), posted leaflets on vans to protest against working conditions. Together with the trade union ZSSS (Zveza svobodnih sindikatov Slovenije, Association of Free Trade Unions of Slovenia) they reported violations against drivers’ rights to the labour inspectorate, which sanctioned the platform on the grounds of misclassification of the employment status of its workers (self-employed rather than employees). As a result, the platform adopted a new business model in 2015. Since then, the company has been subcontracting the tasks to transport companies rather than employing drivers by itself.
