Description

For self-employed or workers in the platform economy in the United Kingdom who have no access to Statutory Sick Pay (SSP), the government facilitated easier access to other social benefits like support for rent costs. In a similar fashion, platform economy workers will not have to be present physically, but will be able to go online to register for these benefits, and in particular for the Employment and Support Allowance (ESA, a government scheme for people with disability or health condition that affects how much you can work) that will be eligible for claim as of the first day of quarantine instead of the normal 8th day being out of work ( further information here).
