Description

The National Trade Union Bloc (BNS) announced on September 13, 2025, the launch of the Digital Platform Workers Union (SLPD), the first trade union organization in Romania created specifically for employees working through platforms like Uber, Bolt, Glovo, Wolt, or similar apps. The union will operate nationally with branches in all counties of the country, and will accept both Romanian and foreign citizens working in Romania through digital platforms.

The scale of sector is significant in Romania. The number of partner companies operating in the transport sector has doubled in the last two years: from 9,257 in 2023 to over 18,900 in 2025. Uber and Bolt together have over 105,000 active drivers, a figure comparable to the total employees of the seven largest employers in the country.

Those who become union members will benefit from representation in relations with digital platforms and intermediaries, promotion of interests in social dialogue and at national level, support for correct and fair legislative initiatives, collective bargaining on working conditions, and defense and support before authorities and employers.
