European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Lidl, a retail chain store, will create 1000 new jobs in Poland. On 9 September, Lidl launched a major recruitment drive under the slogan ‘Secure work. For years’, it will last for four weeks. Employees will be recruited for the shops and warehouses in different locations across Poland.
Lidl has been operating in Poland since 2002 and employs about 27,000 people; the operates more than 12,000 shops in 31 countries, and more than 900 in Poland.
Previous business expansions were announced in December 2023, with 600 new jobs (Lidl 2023-PLSeptember 2023, with 200 new jobs (Lidl-2023a-PL), November 2022, with 1,400 jobs created (Lidl-2022-PL), March 2022, with 1,500 new jobs (Lidl-2022a-PL), February 2022, with 300 jobs created, (Lidl-2022b-PL), August 2021, with 500 jobs created (Lidl-2021-PL), February 2021, with 2,600 jobs created (Lidl-2021-PL).

Lidl Polska is creating approximately 250-300 jobs through a new distribution centre in Skawina, near Kraków. Recruitment has started ahead of the facility's planned opening in March 2027. The investment forms part of the company's ongoing expansion in Poland.
The new centre is expected to improve distribution efficiency and will incorporate automated processes and environmentally sustainable solutions, including renewable energy installations and heat-recovery systems.
New positions are expected mainly in warehousing, logistics, and operational support functions at the Skawina site. Lidl Polska also plans to open 40-50 additional stores by the end of 2026. While staffing levels have not been confirmed, a typical new store employs around 20 workers.
Lidl Polska employs nearly 30,000 people and operates more than 1,000 stores nationwide. The Skawina facility will become the company's largest distribution centre in Poland and will support future network expansion.
