Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Lidl has made an announcement in Poland for introducing 1,400 new full-time positions for store, warehouse and managerial staff, as well as pay raises in 2023. The large retail chain plans to allocate more than PLN 230 million towards this restructuring.
This announcement is in line with the company's constant search for skilled professionals and entry-level candidates to enter Lidl's structures. Additionally, the company will be offering jobs in its distribution centers for individuals to manage the handling and logistics of store deliveries.
Currently there are over 10,800 Lidl stores in 32 countries, and more than 700 in Poland. Lidl has been operating since 2002 and currently employs 25,000 people.
Previous business expansions were announced in March 2022, with 1,500 new jobs (Lidl-2022a-PL), February 2022, with 300 jobs created, (Lidl-2022b-PL), August 2021, with 500 jobs created (Lidl-2021-PL), February 2021, with 2,600 jobs created (Lidl-2021-PL).
