Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Poczta Polska, the Polish national postal operator, has announced that it plans to create 160 new jobs at its sorting office in Lublin in 2021. Until the end of April 2021, candidates can apply for positions related to customs agency. The business expansion is related to the EU’s customs and tax regulations for goods sent from outside the EU which will come into force on 1 July 2021, and Poczta Polska will take over the process of filing electronic customs import declarations. The company will provide special training for new employees.
Currently, Poczta Polska employs about 80,000 people across the country. Previous restructuring programmes announced in recent years: February 2019 (120 jobs created), June 2019 (190 jobs created), August 2019 (360 jobs created), January 2020 (700 jobs cut), October 2020 (3,500 jobs cut) and January 2021 (2,000 jobs cut).
