Description
Poczta Polska, the Polish national postal operator, has announced that it plans to cut its employment by 3,500 jobs throughout a voluntary departure programme at its units across Poland. The programme will cover mainly office staff as well as employees who have other sources of income (for example have already acquired pension rights). The company has already initiated negotiations with the local trade unions. According to the company, the aid in amount of PLN 419 million (€91.47 million) from the Anti-Crisis Shield (a package of laws aimed to support Polish companies amid the growing pandemic) is insufficient to deal with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2012-2016, the company carried out six editions of the voluntary departure programme. Since 2016, it has hired more than 4,500 staff and currently employs about 80,000 people.
