Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Finnish car manufacturer Valmet Automotive has announced that it will hire a total of 1,000 new employees during 2019. New jobs are created both at the company’s new car battery plant in Salo (see ERM factsheet from February 2019 for the recruitment of 300 new employees) and at the car plant in Uusikaupunki. Both blue- and white-collar jobs are created.
Valmet Automotive had some 4,800 employees in 2018 and has been growing rapidly in the past years. This is the second year in a row when the company announces job creation of 1,000 new positions. For previous business expansion cases reported in the ERM, February 2018 (1,000 jobs created), June 2017 (100 jobs created) and March 2017 (300 jobs created).
