Description

Electrolux, manufacturer of household appliances, has announced that it is to cut 120 jobs at its refrigerator plant in Mariestad in the next three years. The downsizing follows the decision to specialize the production in Mariestad, which will be focused on premium products.

Electrolux also announced that it will discontinue its production of washing machines at the plant in Revin, France. Downsizing will also be undertaken at the Electrolux plant in Schwanden, Switzerland, where 80 employees are let go.

Electrolux has announced several rounds of redundancies affecting Swedish jobs in the last years (for more information please see the following cases: 16492, 15052, 14838, 13721, 3163, 7068, 12244, 10909, 7736, 1942).

Swedish Electrolux produces household and professional appliances, such as cookers and cooktops, ovens, fridges and freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, tumble dryers, room air conditioners and vacuum cleaners.

The redundancies will start in 2013 and are expected to be implemented by 2016.
