Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Home decor and gardening retail company Leroy Merlin has announced the creation of several new stores in Poland (Warsaw, Kraków, Łódź and Głógów) that will open in 2022 and will create a total of 560 new jobs. The new store in Łódź will employ 160 employees and the facility, consisting of over 15,000 square meters, was launched in late December 2021. In Głógów the recruitment process for the new 100 employees has been launched in January 2022, and the store is expected to be opened in the first half of 2022. The company has also just initiated the recruitment process for the new store in Kraków which will employ 140 new employees. The facility, consisting of 10,000 square meters, is expected to be launched in the second half of 2022. The last opening shop will be the new store in Warsaw which will employ 160 new employees. The chain purchased a site previously used by Tesco; the facility, consisting of about 15,000 square meters is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2022.
In the various locations the company is looking for cashiers, managers for different product sectors, customer advisors, logistics, customer advisers, warehouse staff, sale coordinators and designers. New employees will receive a benefit package, including private medical care, life insurance and sport card.
The company has been operating in the country since 1994, it runs 73 stores employing over 13,000 people.
