European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
The Polish branch of the Japanese car manufacturer Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland (TMMP) has announced that it will create another 300 new jobs at its plant in Wałbrzych.
The company has just launched production of hybrid electric transmissions for its low-emission hybrid drives. The business expansion is related to the demand for Toyota’s best-selling Yaris which is at an all-time high; the model is manufactured in France and the Czech Republic. TMMP’s output of hybrid electric powertrains will receive another boost when the new Yaris Cross begins production later in 2021. Under the latest expansion, Toyota has invested over PLN 300 million (€65.81 million) in the Wałbrzych facility.
Additionally, the second gearbox line is expected to be launched in fall 2021. By the end of 2022, the company is to employ over 3,000 staff at both of its Polish factories. In Poland, Toyota has two production facilities located in Jelcz-Laskowice and Wałbrzych.
Previous business expansions were announced in September 2018 (150 new jobs), February 2019 (150 new jobs), September 2019 (450 new jobs) and January 2020 (500 new jobs).
