Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Japanese car manufacturer Toyota Manufacturing Poland has announced that it will create 150 new jobs at its plant in Wałbrzych by the end of March 2019. The company is looking for production staff, logistics and maintenance specialists. The unit in Wałbrzych is being expanded as the company plans to launch the production of hybrid engines in fall 2018. Toyota announced that it is to invest PLN 278 million (€64.7 million) in the project in Wałbrzych.
In Poland, Toyota has two production facilities located in Jelcz-Laskowice and Wałbrzych. The unit in Wałbrzych produces petrol engines and gearboxes employing, as of October 2018, 1,500 people. Previous restructurings took place in 2014 (380 jobs created), 2007 (260 jobs created in August and 255 jobs created in January) and 2006 (350 jobs created).
