The American online retailer Amazon has announced that it will create over 1,000 jobs at its new distribution centre in Pawlikowice near Łódź, Poland. The centre, with an area of 44,800 m2, is expected to be operational by the end of 2019. The recruitment process has already started; the company is looking for warehouse staff as well as HR, IT and financial specialists. Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, with headquarters in Seattle, US, currently employs around 647,500 employees worldwide. Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014. In Poland, the company employs about 14,000 employees in five distribution centres, a development centre in Gdańsk and Amazon web services in Warsaw. In 2018, Amazon announced three restructuring programmes: in April (1000 new jobs), June (200 new jobs) and September (500 new jobs).
