American online retailer Amazon has announced that it will create 500 new jobs at its distribution centre in Sosnowiec by the end of 2018. The company is looking for managers, engineers, traffic managers, IT specialists and warehouse staff, both experienced and novice employees. In February 2018, the company announced a restructuring programme resulting in the creation of 1,000 jobs at the centre. Currently, the unit in Sosnowiec employs 2,500 people and it is the largest Amazon’s warehouse in Europe (with an area of 310,000m2 and about 16mn of stored items).

Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, with headquarters in Seattle, US, currently employs around 566,000 employees worldwide. Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014. In Poland, the company has five distribution centres, a development centre in Gdańsk and Amazon web services in Warsaw.

In June 2018, Amazon announced another restructuring programme resulting in the creation of 200 new jobs at the Technology Development Centre in Gdańsk.
