Amazon has announced a new phase of its global restructuring programme affecting 16,000 corporate jobs worldwide.
It brings the total number of layoffs since October to around 30,000 Amazon 2025-WO . The redundancy represents a small portion of Amazon's 1.58 million employees, who are mostly in fulfillment centre and warehouses, however it is nearly 10% of its corporate workforce. In Europe, the restructuring includes Ireland Amazon 2026-IE , where around 300 jobs are expected to be cut.
Amazon has also decided to close its remaining physical Fresh grocery stores and Go markets.
The redundancies mainly affect white-collar roles across multiple business units, including Amazon Web Services, devices, advertising, Prime Video, Alexa, Kindle and supply chain optimization. The restructuring is linked to efforts to reduce bureaucracy and improve efficiency.
