European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Furniture retailer Ikea will create 120 new jobs in Ireland over the next year as it opens its first Irish customer distribution centre in Rathcoole, southwest Dublin in early 2024. The new jobs will be across warehousing, logistics and administration. The job creation is part of a strategy to reduce order delivery times by more than half and increase availability. Until now, goods being delivered in Ireland were supplied from distribution centres in the UK or Belgium.
The Swedish manufacturer employs approximately 230,000 people, globally.
Previosu restructuring events have been recorded in the ERM database. During 2023, the company annnounced an expansion of 250 jobs in Romania (Ikea-2023-RO). During 2022, expansions were also recorded in Sweden (Ikea-2022-SE), Spain (Ikea-2022-ES) and Estonia (Ikea-2022-ET).
