Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
RENFE, the national passenger railroad company of Spain and main Spanish railway operator, has called for a public offer of employment (OPE) to hire 500 new commercial operators into the company in 2023, which represents an increase of 125 jobs compared to the previous OPE in 2022. It is expected that 430 jobs will be state-wide and the remaining 70 new jobs will be located within Catalonia.
Commercial operators are the company's employees who work at the station, providing support to users through ticket sales, public address announcements or general customer service activities. The new jobs will have as reference the working and payment conditions set out in the RENFE Group’s collective agreement, and the applicants will have to meet the specific requirements detailed in the call by 2 March 2023.
This announcement comes after several previous public employment offer process (OPE) implemented last year 2022 in November (RENFE-2022-ES) and March (RENFE-2022-ES).
