Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
US-owned online retailer Amazon announced that it will create over 200 jobs at its new development centre in Kraków within the coming years. The company is looking for specialists, both practitioners and theoreticians of new technology. With Warsaw and Gdańsk, it is the third development centre in the country. The plant will focus on developing innovative global products and services, including the Alexa (Virtual Assistant Technology) text-to-speech project and cloud computing.
Amazon, the world’s largest e-commerce company, currently employs over 1,468,000 employees worldwide. Amazon has been operating in Poland since 2014 and employs over 23,000 in ten distribution centres and development centres across the country.
Previous business expansions were announced in March 2019 (1,000 jobs created), July 2019 (1,000 jobs created), February 2020 (1,000 jobs created), May 2020 (100 jobs created), August 2020 (500 jobs created), January 2021 (1,000 jobs created) and May 2021 (650 jobs created).
