Description
The shipping company Corsica Linea, which operates from Marseille (Bouches-du-Rhône), has announced the recruitment of 150 sailors. These new workers are being recruited as part of the launch of its eighth cargo ship, which will be assigned to serve Algeria from summer 2020. It is 203 metres long and has a capacity of 1,930 linear metres. Chartered from the Danish shipowner Stena Roro, the ship will be renamed and equipped this spring. Its capacity is expected to reach 158 cabins and require the employment of 150 sailors.
Taking into account these recruitments, the company has created more than 200 jobs for seafarers since its birth in 2016, following the takeover of the SNCM company, which went bankrupt after several restructuring rounds in 2013 (205 job cuts), in 2006 (150 job cuts) and in 2005 (190 job cuts).
