Description

The management of the clothing company C&A has announced a restructuring project that will result in the closure of 30 stores in France (out of a total of 150) and the loss of 216 jobs in 2020. The first measures taken in the summer 2019 have not been 'sufficient, according to the management' reported a trade unionist of Force Ouvrière. In 2019, C&A had announced the closure of 14 stores in France (out of a total of 160) and the loss of 120 jobs. Although this first operation has not yet been completed, the company has announced 'a new adaptation project' which could lead to 'the closure of thirty additional stores', a spokesperson confirmed to Le Monde. Three of these C & A stores are located in Ile-de-France, in Noisy-le-Grand (Seine-Saint-Denis), Argenteuil (Val-d'Oise) and Sainte-Geneviève-des-Bois (Essonne). Several others are operated in large conurbations, including Toulon (Var), Le Havre (Seine-Maritime), Brest (Finistère) and Toulouse (Haute-Garonne).

The company had already given up its Clermont-Ferrand (Puy-de-Dôme) and Caen (Calvados) addresses. This new list does not include any of the Paris stores. The group closed eight stores in France in 2018 and 13 in 2017.
