Description

John Lewis has announced plans to close its store in Southsea. The store, which trades under its original name of Knight & Lee, employs 127 staff. Reports suggest that the closure will take effect by the end of July 2019.  The store is one of the group's smallest full-range department stores, and modernising is thought to be too difficult. John Lewis has stated that it has no further plans for store closures. It has also said that it will look to mitigate the effects of redundancy by examining prospects for redeployment within the group.

Previous restructurings took place in September (270 jobs lost, while 70 created) and July (300 jobs created) 2018.
