The Swedish network company Ericsson is initiating employer-employee negotiations to reduce up to 80 of its 800 employees in Finland. The majority of the employees are located in Kirkkonummi, Southern Finland. The timeline of the negotiations and expected dismissals is not stated. Ericsson announced in March 2017 it would start a significant cost savings programme globally, with the objective of saving some €1.5 billion by mid-2018. Ericsson says it will try to re-employ internally as many of the dismissed as possible. Ericsson last dismissed 71 people in Finland in 2016, and shut down its new product development unit in Oulu.

Updated, 21/11/2017: Following concluded employer-employee negotiations, Ericsson announces the dismissal of 51 employees, instead of the original estimate of up to 80.
