Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Swedish telecom company Ericsson has initiated employer-employee negotiations in order to cut up to 175 jobs in Finland. The redundancies are part of a greater savings scheme mainly targeting Sweden where 3,000 employees will be made redundant. In Oulu 40 employees within research and development will be made redundant and in Kirkkonummi 135 employees working mainly with product development will be made redundant. As of October 2016, there is no information regarding when the employment effects will be implemented by.
In October 2016 the ERM previously reported on the large scale restructuring in Sweden were 3000 employees will be made redundant.
Ericsson has a total of 116,507 employees world wide and approximately 900 employees in Finland.
