Description

Telecom company Telenor is restructuring its broadband and technology divisions in Norway, which will entail a staff reduction of up to 170 full-time equivalents. Telenor currently has 3,900 permanent employees in Norway, in 24 offices. None of these units will be closed as a result of the restructuring. The company states that tough competition along with technological changes involving digitalisation and changing customer needs make changes to the organisation necessary. The new organisational structure is planned to be in place by 1 April 2017. According to the company, the staff reduction will be made through natural wastage as far as possible. All affected employees will be offered severance packages and assistance in finding new work. Telenor has previously undertaken efforts to cut costs in Norway, including a restructuring in 2014 and an ongoing round of restructuring which affects 5 of the 24 Norwegian offices, announced in October 2016
