Japanese car component manufacturer Sews has leased 3,000 square metres from the former Heineken factory at Hateg, Romania. At the site, the company employs up to 320 individuals, producing cables for car manufacturers such as Renault and Mercedes. In 2015,  the Hateg plant was opened after the company moved its production from Slovakia to Romania. 

SEWS plans to hire 150 people in 2016 at the Hateg plant.

In Romania, Sumitomo Electric Wiring System (SEWS) started its investments in 2000 by opening plants in Deva (Hunedoara County), Orastie and Alba Iulia (Alba County).

Update, 27 June 2016: Japanese cable producing company Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems (SEWS) has announced up to 125 job openings for its production units in Alba-Iulia, Deva and Orastie, Romania. Most jobs are for unqualified workers and are for the assembly and mounting of components. Most jobs are for the auto wiring factory in Deva, where there are 85 jobs availabilities, while for the plants in Alba-Iulia and Orastie SEWS plans to hire 30 and 10 individuals respectively.
