Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
American conglomerate General Electric (GE) has announced that it will cut about 260 jobs in Poland within next two years. The restructuring programme is a part of GE’s plan to restructure operations across Europe and cut 6,500 jobs by 2018. The programme is a result of the takeover of the transmission grid and power company Alstom in November 2015. In CEE, about 3% of jobs are expected to be cut. In Poland, GE acquired two Alstom’s facilities located in Elbląg and Wrocław.
GE has been operating in Poland for 24 years. During the period 2014-2015 the company created 400 jobs in the country.
