MTV Media, a Finnish media company owned by the Swedish Bonnier group, has announced the outsourcing of its news business which will result in 140 job cuts. The affected employees will be transferred to the new company called Mediahub that will produce content for other customers in addition to MTV. MTV, not to be confused with its international music namesake, was a pioneer in Finnish commercial broadcasting. It currently operates TV and radio channels as well as network services. ERM has previously reported a restructuring in MTV Media in 2012.
Updated 2015-06-22: The restructuring at MTV continues and 82 additional positions are to be cut. The following reductions have been indicated: 54 positions will be cut from MTV and 28 jobs will be cut from MTV's news production company Mediahub. The cuts correspond to one fourth and one third of the companies' workforces respectively.
