Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Ireland-based business outsourcing provider Arvato announced its plan to relocate 140 jobs from Dublin to Poland in 2014.
The company has already notified its employees and announced its commitment to finding other positions for those workers being made redundant.
According to the media reports, Arvato seeks to increase its competitiveness with this move after signing a new 4-year contract covering logistics services to the Polish telecommunication provider Netia.
Arvato, which is a subsidiary of the Bertelsmann group, currently employs around 1,200 staff across various locations in Ireland.
