Description

Swedish truck manufacturer Volvo Trucks is to hire 250 persons at its plant in Umea, Sweden. The majority of the new employees are seasonal agency workers that already work at the plant. They will have their contracts turned into permanent ones, while 80 persons will start working in the coming two weeks.

The reason for the business expansion is an increase in demand mainly from the UK, where several customers are renewing their vehicle fleets in order to meet new emission standards.

As mentioned, 3 shifts are going to be introduced in the bodywork and painting facilities and an increase of the volume of work during the day shift is expected at the assembly facilities. Additionally, the company will have a final decision till the end of September for a potential relocation of activities to the Gothenburg plant which may affect more than 200 jobs.
