European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Volvo Truck Corporation is the second largest producer of heavy trucks and transport solutions within the entire truck industry. Volvo Trucks supplies the haulage industry with complete transportation solutions. The job cuts at the units in Tuve and Umeå are due to a decreasing demand. The total number of job cuts represents four separate dismissals: the first dismissals took place in September 2008 (980 employees affected, see factsheet no 11727), the second one in October 2008 (400 employees affected, see factsheet no 11990) , then in January 2009 (1020 employees affected) and the most recent in April 2009 (655 employees affected).
