Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
ČD Cargo, a freight transport subsidiary of the České dráhy (Czech Railways), has announced 320 redundancies by the end of July 2008 due to the second change of railway time-table this year. The workforce reduction will affect 200 people in traffic operation and 120 white-collar workers. The company currently employs about 12,000 people.
Job losses at ?eské dráhy are also reported to the ERM (see fact sheets 10490 and 11866).
Details of company-level agreement concluded at ?eské dráhy in December 2007 is available on the European Industrial Relations Observatory (EIRO).
