Description

Safran, a French aerospace group, announced the closure of its Mantes-la-Ville plant, that employs about 500 staff, resulting in 112 job losses. 300 employees will be transferred to sites in Vernon and Saint-Ouen-l’Aumône by 2027. The closure will be completed by the end of 2030.

The decision follows the 2025 acquisition of Collins Aerospace activities, prompting a consolidation of actuation production and an effort to modernise tooling. It also reflects broader cost optimisation and rationalisation following strong performance at the site.

Trade unions, FO and CFDT, have protested, calling the move unjust despite the plant's productivity. Negotiations with management remain pending as workers seek assurances for internal redeployment within Safran.

Several large-scale restructurings have been recorded in the ERM database, with the latest in Safran Electronics and Defense 2026 - FR.
