European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Zalando, a German online fashion retailer, has announced plans to cut around 200 jobs at its Berlin headquarters as part of an ongoing restructuring programme following its acquisition of About You. The restructuring is already underway in 2026.
The measures are intended to streamline organisational structures and enable the company to respond more quickly to changes in the market. The workforce reduction in Berlin is to be implemented through mutually agreed termination agreements. Zalando also plans to relocate certain positions and processes to Bucharest, where it intends to open a new office by the end of 2026 and create 60 jobs by the first quarter of 2027.
Zalando previously announced the elimination of 180 jobs in Berlin following the closure of its "Zalando Content Solutions division" Zalando 2026 - DE . The company had also reduced its workforce in Berlin by around 450 positions in the previous year Zalando 2025 - DE.
