Description

Zalando, a German fashion and lifestyle e-commerce company, opened of a new logistics centre in Giessen. Following its opening in June 2026, around 500 employees had already been recruited, and the workforce is expected to grow to approximately 900 by autumn 2026. In the longer term, the company expects the site to employ up to 1,700 people.

The expansion reflects a strategic shift of logistics operations towards the Frankfurt region. The new location was specifically selected to enable faster deliveries to customers and key markets. The facility is equipped with digital sorting technology, which is expected to improve operational efficiency.

The centre will create jobs in logistics, building services engineering, material flow technology, administration and management.

Zalando employs around 17,000 people worldwide.

The company previously announced that its logistics centre in Erfurt will be closed by September 2026, affecting approximately 2,700 employees Zalando 2026 - DE.
