European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Nestlé, a Swiss multinational in the food and beverage sector, announced the cut of 16,000 employees worldwide in the next two years. The majority of the job cuts will be white collar workers: 12,000 positions cut are desk employees and the remaining 4,000 are in manufacturing.
Job cuts will affect several countries: 301 in SpainNestlé España 2026 - ES, 259 in Germany Nestlé 2026 - DE, 185 in Italy Nestlé 2026 - IT and 100 in France Nestlé 2026 - FR. Details for other locations will be announced in the coming months.
All affected employees will be managed through the ERE procedure; the company is engaging in honest dialogue with trade unions to minimise impact and offer support.
