Description

Cummins hydrogenics, a Belgian producer of hydrogen electrolysis systems, will cut 100 jobs at its Oevel (Westerlo) plant as the company ceases commercial production this year, related to hydrogen installations.

The shutdown follows Cummins’ decision to end hydrogen installation production due to weak prospect for green hydrogen. As a result, production activities are being discontinued, following earlier offshoring of production to Spain: Cummins Hydrogenics 2024 - BE.

A social plan in place until 2027. Sixty employees will remain to finish orders and maintain existing sites, while the 100 eliminated positions are all within the Oevel plant. Trade union ACV-CSC METEA Kempen is negotiating with management to extend the social package through 2030.
