Description

Cummins Hydrogenics, a subsidiary of the American multinational Cummins Inc., has announced a restructuring plan that will affect its operations in Oevel, Belgium. The company plans to cut 100 of its 248 jobs at one of its two sites in Oevel, comprising 50 white-collar and 50 blue-collar positions.

The restructuring is driven by high labour costs in Belgium and involves relocating part of the hydrogen installation production to Guadalajara, Spain. The local management and trade unions are in discussions to potentially reduce the number of job losses.

Cummins produces hydrogen-based energy systems, including electrolysis units that convert water into hydrogen and oxygen for industrial use. The Mechelen and Rumst sites will not be affected.
