Description
Alinea, a French furniture retailer, announced the liquidation of its operations, leading to the elimination of 1 200 jobs across its 36 stores. The company, a subsidiary of the Mulliez family group, will close all its outlets, with only seven franchise stores continuing under a different name. In 2020, the company had already faced bankruptcy Alinéa 2020 - FR. The Mulliez family had then taken over the company. Zodio stores, owned by the family, had been transformed into sales point for Alinea. However, the company faced financial difficulties due to the loss of sales due to the property crisis and high inflation following the Ukraine war. Additionally, the company faces high competition from other furniture retailer.
Alinea received a global takeover offer from a Romanian group, yet both the management and employees refused it.
A prior large-scale restructuring has been recorded in the ERM database Alinéa 2020 - FR.
