Description

Placed in receivership mid-May, the furniture brand Alinéa is awaiting the decision of the Commercial Court of Marseille on a possible takeover. A first result of the company crisis is the dismissal of 181 employees, while an overall number of 1900 is at risk.

More in detail, three stores in the department of Seine-et-Marne, at Pontault-Combault, Cesson and Villeparisis, will have to close by the end of the summer (120 employees made redundant), while an additional one will terminate its activity at Barentin in Normandy (61 employees).

Alinéa, which initially placed itself in a situation of suspension of payments, explains the company crisis highlighting that it did not support the joined effect of the movement of yellow jackets at the end of 2018, then of the demonstrations against the pension reform at the end of 2019 and finally of the COVID-19. The health crisis caused by the new coronavirus forced the company to cease its activity for almost two months.

Alinéa is a furniture, household articles and fashion retailer, funded in 1988 and operating, in 2018, 32 establishments countrywide.
