Description

Mahle, the German automotive supplier, has announced plans to cut around 1,000 jobs worldwide.

Up to half of the announced job cuts are expected in Germany, with a mid-three-digit number of positions to be eliminated in Stuttgart. The cuts will affect administrative and research-and-development functions as part of a major cost-saving programme. Mahle intends to rely mainly on voluntary severance and early-retirement schemes: Mahle 2025 - DE.

The restructuring is driven by weak market conditions, declining demand for combustion-engine components and increasing competitive and trade pressures. The company seeks to achieve €150 million in annual savings from next year, two-thirds of which will come from personnel reductions. The announcement follows the loss of around 600 jobs in Germany earlier in 2025.

Mahle employs about over 67,000 globally. The company has production facilities across Europe, Africa, Americas, and Asia. In Europe, Mahle operates, among others, in Germany, Austria, France, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Romania, and Spain.
