Description

DS Smith Packaging announced the closure of one of its sites, cutting 100 jobs.

One year after the DS Smith group was bought by the American company International Paper, the management decided to close its plant based in Valgelon-La Rochette (Savoie). Local authorities and political representatives have intervened, urging the Ministry of Economy to help reverse the decision or find a buyer for the site. Negotiations and discussions with public authorities are ongoing.

The management board claims a drop in sales and strong competition, notably from Italian and Spanish companies.

In 2025, the company also closed a site in Croatia: DS Smith 2025 - HR.
