European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
On September 1st, the British paper manufacturing firm DS Smith announced the closure of its paper mill in Beliš e causing the dismissal of all of its 200 employees at the site.
As the reason for this, the company states its commitment to long-term sustainability of its business model and operational efficiency. The company wants to instead shift its investment focus to its packaging plant also located in Beliš e.
In line with the Croatian legal frame for closures, there are currently discussions underway with the employee representatives regarding support measures and the proposed time frame of the closure.
