Description

LG Electronics Poland, the Polish subsidiary of the South Korean LG Group, has announced plans to close its refrigerator production line in Biskupice Podgórne (Dolnośląskie), resulting in 180 direct job losses by the end of 2025.

The decision stems from the need to optimise the company’s production structure and adjust to changing European market conditions and price pressure from cheaper Chinese appliances. Consultations with trade unions began on 4 November 2025 and will last about three weeks to determine severance conditions.

No redeployment plan has been confirmed, although some employees may transfer to the expanded washing machine production unit.

Trade unions and over 3,000 citizens have criticised LG for a lack of transparency, claiming production is being relocated to China.

LG Electronics, operating in Poland since 2006, runs major manufacturing sites near Wrocław producing home appliances and electronic equipment for European markets.

LG Electronics previously expanded its operation in Poland in 2011 and 2010, see: LG Electronics 2011 PLLG Electronics 2010 PL hiring around 1300 workers.
